In a few words, tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a fun loving, farm girl with a passion for science and travel.

How long have you been a photographer?

I have always played with cameras, but I have only started taking photography seriously in the last few months.

How did you discover photography?

My dad is an avid photographer, so photography has been in my life for a long time. But two years ago I met a photographer at a music festival (whom has since become my partner in crime) and he opened my eyes to the beauty of photography.

How was your first shooting? What did you shoot?

To be completely honest, I have never done a full on shoot in the serious sense of the word. My shoot usually involve spontaneous walks and adventures with my camera in hand. The first time I shot with something that wasn’t a “point and shoot” camera was roughly 6 months ago on an Instawalk around the streets of Pretoria.

How would you describe your style?

I’m not sure I really have a style right at the moment. I am still in the process of finding something that I really like.

What does photography mean to you?

Photography is an outlet for when I need a break from the world of science. But at the rate I’m falling in love with it, photography is probably going to become more than just a hobby in my life!

What inspires you?

To take photos? Well, apart from drooling over several Instagram feeds and Facebook pages, the people that I have grown to know and love through photography play a large part in my inspiration and drive to find the photos that no one else is shooting.

What would you like to photograph?

I currently shoot mainly landscapes and macro. But I’d like to get into studio and boudoir one day.

A photographer you particularly admire?

There are too many to even begin making a list! But two of my favourites have to be Jesse Herzog and Dani Diamond. Their work just blows my hair back.

What is happiness?

Happiness is a lot of things. It’s the feeling of the base in your chest at a music concert. It’s the feeling of freedom when you’re out on the road. It’s the feeling of excitement when you nail the shot you wanted. It’s the feeling of joy when your experiments finally start working.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

I have lived in a few places during my life, but there truly is no place like home. But, if I really had to pick somewhere, it would probably be Scotland.

What’s your next goal?

The main goal on my mind at the moment is finishing off my Master’s degree. That’s super long term though, so I’d say that my next goal is to finish off planning and booking my trip Down Under at the end of the year.
